03.09.09 - First picture of Milla in A Perfect Getaway and information about the release date from Director David Twohy's blog:

So no, the new movie won't be released March 14 as I'd suggested earlier. Which is a bad news/good news tale -- with an emphasis on the latter.

See, once upon a time, APG was going to be an MGM release, and March 14 was the date that worked for that studio's release schedule. But recently Universal saw the movie, liked its upside, and made a successful bid to cherry-pick it away from MGM. Which is fine by me, since I've done two releases with the folks at Uni -- PITCH BLACK and RIDDICK. It's a good team they have in place, led by Adam Fogelson, and they know their shit. Waiting a few extra months for them to get their marketing materials together is a small price to pay for having a major like Uni release your movie.

Anyway, the date that works for Uni schedule is now sometime in August, possibly August 14. And I'll even caveat that, if only because movies frequently change release dates these days. Sometimes it's a reflection of the movie itself, sometimes it's simply about the musical chairs that all studios play with their releases. So don't get too hung up about it. I don't.

Including pix of my two leading ladies, Milla Jovovich and Kiele Sanchez. Gentlemen, start your engines.

In addition to the previously announced April 4 show, Milla will also perform with Puscifer (puscifer.com) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA! Promo video:

Milla discussed her next design project at Colette's party for Alexander Wang from Paris Fashion Week, March 8, 2009:

"It has to be the right fit, I want to work with people who let me do my thing -- and I really want to launch a baby line," said Jovovich, who also put her hobby, doll houses, on hold. "They're up in the loft, but they'll come down again for my daughter one day. I had a whole village of them in my bedroom and my husband would have to make his way along a little path to get to the bathroom at night. He's six-foot-four, so it got a bit tiresome."

Milla at the Yves Saint Laurent Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter 2009 show from Paris Fashion Week, March 9, 2009 (Milla: "That show was amazing, very wearable pieces, there are at least 10 things I would like to buy."):

Model-actress Milla Jovovich hailed the collection as "space-age poetry." "You can tell that he just dreams about these women and they just come to life. It's almost like the way David Bowie makes music is the way Olivier Theyskens designs." [ International Herald Tribune ]

03.04.09 - Full Roberto Cavalli credit card ad starring Milla, "Everything I Need", is now up at robertocavallicard.com (music by The Amplifetes)!

Interview from Interview (US) March 2009 with video of the photoshoot (music by Fol Chen):

GO: Everything is on YouTube now. You don't even have to have a reel anymore. You can just send people a link.

MJ: This little girl did a video of a song that I did a few years ago for the Underworld [2003] soundtrack. She did this video of herself in her room at night, singing to this song, and it's just so wonderful. I had to put it up on my website -- it made me feel so good that here's this teenager who's totally vibing out and getting all dark to my music alone at home. I could just imagine her mom shouting from downstairs, like, "Claire, are you listening to that song again?" [ link to video ]

GO: Is that a song that was on your album The Divine Comedy (1994)?

MJ: No. A friend of mine named Danny Lohner does a lot of soundtracks now. He used to play bass in Nine Inch Nails, and we've been friends for, like, 15 years. He occasionally asks me to do some singing for him. Last week I did a song with him for the new Underworld: Rise of the Lycans soundtrack. It's a remix of a Cure song, so I actually got to sing with Robert Smith, which was really cool.

...

GO: I guess it's really kind of new, the female action star. I mean, we've had heroines before -- in the '60s there was Emma Peel on The Avengers -- but you've taken it to the next level.

MJ: Yeah, definitely. The Resident Evil series was based on these very popular video games that my little brother loved to play. That's why I was even interested in doing the film version -- I had a 13-year-old brother who really loved Resident Evil and just thought I was the coolest person in the world to be in the movie. When he played, he would always play as Jill Valentine -- he would always play as the girl. So it was also the one game where even the boys would play the girl.

...

GO: Were you a physical, athletic-type person before you started making these movies where you do these amazing stunts?

MJ: I've always been athletic but I didn't start doing martial arts until I was a teenager. When I did The Fifth Element, I really seriously started training, which made me feel so much better than I normally did. I mean, when you're doing martial arts, you feel like you can master certain skills and be so much more in control of who you are, so that really appealed to me. Before that, I rode horses and was just generally athletic. But I really connected with martial arts. I'd always had a fantasy as a kid of being a ninja warrior, so it definitely answered that sort of need in my psyche, too -- a need to be superpowerful.

GO: Are you, like, a black belt in something or --

MJ: [laughs] No, no. Unfortunately, I don't train enough on an everyday basis to be a black belt, but if I put my mind to it I think I could definitely move very quickly in that world. I really want my daughter to get into martial arts, so when she's 2, I want to start training with her. I want her to feel like it's something that she and her mom do together. I feel like one of the single most important gifts that I can give her is the gift of being totally in control of her body. And self-defense is so important to know in today's society. It's not just that you might get mugged. It's more for confidence. It's the way you hold yourself when you walk into a room. Every step you take is more sure and you're much more aware of your surroundings. So, I think it's a really important thing -- -especially for women.

Milla discusses losing weight after giving birth and having more kids -- eventually -- in an interview with Fox News:

"Diet and lots of exercise, I worked my big, little butt off. It's been a lot of work and I've been working with Harley Pasternak and his 5-Factor program, they actually have diet food sent to my house. At one point I just ate oatmeal, salmon and artichokes everyday for a week. It was definitely a lot easier putting it on!"

...

"I do want another baby but not for a little bit," Jovovich said. "I've only just lost all the weight so I want to enjoy my old body for a while before I have to become a crazy alien again."

Milla at the Roberto Cavalli Womenswear Autumn/Winter show from Milan Fashion Week, March 1, 2009:

Milla will appear in an Internet-only ad campaign for Roberto Cavalli's new credit card (robertocavallicard.com). From The New York Times:

Ma, quale financial crisis? Mere mortals may be thinking of how to cut back expenses, but Roberto Cavalli is plotting new ways to expand his universe. His newest venture zeroes in on just what the world needs now: a Cavalli credit card, conceived in partnership with Mastercard, and embellished with a gold logo and a multihued, iridescent snakeskin print. (No word yet on whether high spenders will be able to upgrade to, say, crocodile or leopard.) The Italian designer will host a dinner this Sunday during Milan fashion week with special guests like Milla Jovovich, who will star with him in an Internet-only ad campaign, and Elizabeth Hurley.

Added the lyrics to "The Mission" by Puscifer to the Lyrics archive:

What do you know? (repeated throughout)

The birds and the bees they got wise to the lies
So they took to the trees and took to the skies
On top of the chain and safe from the rain
Whatcha' know about the ways of the underside?

Bought a hot shot gat from a north end guinea
'Cause they're hip to the bull and they're hip to the lies
Ante up witcha ass 'cause you ain't got a penny
Whatcha' know about the ways on the underside?

Bought a hot shot gat from a north end guinea
Ante up witcha ass 'cause you ain't got a penny
Droppin' bombs from above cut ya all down to size
'Cause they're hip to the bull and they're hip to the lies

Yeah, the streets rose in two perfect waves in the night
One crashes on my left, and one on my right
It's all fire and brimstone baby, so let's go outside
It's all fire and brimstone baby, I got my brand new pistol baby

Bought a hot shot gat from a north end guinea
Ante up witcha ass 'cause you ain't got a penny
Droppin' bombs from above cut you all down to size
'Cause they're hip to the bull and they're hip to the lies And they're hip to the lies

Our turn to decide, who lives and who dies
Right in front of your eyes, it's time to get up
Our turn to decide, who lives and who dies
Now wise to the lies it's time to get up
Our turn to decide, who lives and who dies
Whatcha' know about the ways on the underside?

Bought a hot shot gat from a north end guinea
Now answer the lies, it's time to get up
Ante up with your ass 'cause you ain't got a penny
Time to get up
Dropping bombs from above cut you all down to size
Now wise to the lies, it's time to get up
'Cause they're hip to the bull and they're hip to the lies
And they're hip to the lies

Our turn to decide, who lives and who dies
Now wise the lies it's time to get up
Our turn to decide, who lives and who dies
Right in front of your eyes, it's time to get up
Our turn to decide, who lives and who dies
Now wise to the lies it's time to get up
Our turn to decide, who lives and who dies
