- Variety: Looking ahead, how are things progressing on your next film, In The Lost Lands?
Paul: We start shooting on Nov. 14, so I’m actively involved in prepping the movie right now. It’s Milla and Dave Bautista, who are going be amazing. Seeing them go head-to-head is just going to be fabulous.
Variety: So they’re going to fight each other?
Paul: Oh yeah, I mean you can’t have Milla and Dave in a movie and not have them have a go at it. It’s an adaptation of a George R.R. Martin story so you know it’s going to be dark and twisted and have wonderful characters. Because that’s what George does.

- A sneak peek at our #inthelostlands! movie hair tests. I was so lucky to work with my dear friend @ward_s_official for this new look. He designed the hair for The Fifth Element and now all these years later we’ve collaborated on another iconic look for this new film! Ward photographed me moving to see how the wig looked in motion and here’s one of the shots from that session. We’re in our second week of principal photography with the lovely @davebautista! So far it’s been an epic shoot! I can’t wait to see how this new project based on the gorgeous short story by the master @georgerrmartin turns out, but so far so amazing! I wish I could post the whole costume with hair and make up, but I’ll have to keep that under wraps for a while longer. I couldn’t resist sharing a snippet of our process.😉 Sending lots of love to you all! ❤️ m

- Happy Birthday to me from the Lost Lands!! Do I really need to put my actual age? Nah, google it😂. The schedule has been crazy, we’ve been working long and weird hours and I’m too tired to do any nice selfies on the weekends so I decided to post this awesome pic of my early costume fittings for my character “Gray Alys”. It’s beautiful and an interesting little glimpse behind the scenes.😘 Added plus is that I don’t have to actively do anything like my make up or get ready so I can post in my pj’s.🥳 I have to say how grateful I am today. It’s been over 3 years since I’ve made a movie. First I was pregnant, then COVID hit 2 weeks after our 3rd baby was born. We’ve been developing this movie for over 6 years and I can’t imagine a better present than to be finally working on it and also having my family with me. You know what’s also an incredible gift on my birthday? All of you. I’m very surprised and super happy that so many of you have kept on following me, even though I’m sure I’ve made posts that you disagreed with or didn’t share my belief in. It’s amazing to have a network of people out there who are as wonderful and supportive as you and show me so much love again and again, year after year. Thank you. Xo m💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️

- So amazing to have dinner with @georgerrmartin last night. His stories about how long he worked and struggled with his writing for so many years was so inspiring. He told us that the first GOT book signings had literally 10 people in line😂 and once he actually saw a HUGE line outside one of his signings and thought “Wow! Finally people are reading it!” Only to realize that there was a another book signing at the same location and the crowds were there for Clifford the Big Red Dog to stamp their books with a dog paw on a smelly costume that only the youngest workers were forced to wear because the suit never got washed and poor kids didn’t have a choice😭. George’s story shows that if you love what you do, never stop working on it and persevere, you really can make your dreams come true. Though it takes (in George’s case 10’s of thousands of pages later and a hit show😅). What an unforgettable night and I’m so happy to have met this iconic, unbelievably prolific author and to have finally made his short story IN THE LOST LANDS into a film with the lovely @davebautista. And a special thank you to our wonderful co-writer @constantinwerner who brought me the script 6 years ago and the patience and hard work he put into it, as well as the trust in us that we would make his dream into a reality.❤️ #inthelostlands #georgerrmartin #paulwsanderson #constantinwerner (03.03.23)
- I wanted to share the painstaking process of getting the look for my wig for @inthelostlands with the incredible hairdresser @wardhair4real! Ward also set my hair look for The Fifth Element movie so many years ago. We were both babies and Ward was literally the ONLY person I knew would be able to come up with something completely fresh and new for the part of Leeloo. And he did. To the point where bright orange hair screams Leeloo even to this day! Now that’s timeless. I knew for my role as Gray Alys, I needed someone with that kind of strong visionary talent to express what I had imagined for my mythological sorceress. Ward flew down to LA from NYC to personally discuss, color and cut the wig into shape. The coloring process took up more than a day as the wigs would bleed and the coloring process took needed a day to set. We experimented with so many different shades of blue and light green before we came up with two wigs that felt right. Then the pain staking process of cutting them was intense. We didn’t have unlimited cash to buy 10 wigs, so we had to be SO careful with the two we had! It took over 12 hours of tiny cuts and multiple discussions before going for the next snippet. What you see in these pictures is the end result which we were both so happy with. The look is so different from anything I’d seen on screen so far and once again Ward proved why he’s a master at invention and always ahead of his time with style. I am so proud to have completed this particular circle with you Ward! You’re a genius and all that work was so worth it when you see how the hair just clicked the character together in such a real way. Thank you again my dear friend for your impeccable taste and wild, impulsive nature! We did it again, another classic, iconic look for a classic, iconic character! Watch @inthelostlands, in theaters throughout the US starting March 7!❤️❤️❤️ (03.05.25)
